In the days following your passing, your close family members will experience a great range of emotions. There will be tears, there will be stories, and there will be a lot of details for them to consider as they navigate those difficult days. Maybe it will be a best friend, a nephew, a daughter or a brother who will have the responsibility of orchestrating all the details of your funeral, your finances, your material goods.
And they may become overwhelmed quickly. All while finding themselves in the deepest grief.
You can help them, even when you are not present, with the After I'm Gone planning kit and workshop.
Having all legal documents, passwords, account numbers and other important life information stored in one place will greatly improve the quality of life for the people who will settle your estate after you die. It is one of the greatest gifts you can give them. Empowered with your completed After I'm Gone book, they can share more time with one another, telling stories, looking through old photos and allowing grief its proper time. The attorneys, funeral directors, bank officials, landlords and all utility and credit card companies will be grateful your loved ones have details so handy.
The workshop is facilitated by Darla Bair, Interfaith Elder. A teacher and spiritual leader, she will inspire you to complete the book. Participants in the class receive a comprehensive book, storage box for documents such as the will, passport, vehicle title and clear advice on completing and storing the kit.
